LIfe In A Box
Merry Christmas Eve Day to all! Grayson has stockings hung up here in the hospital, so he's obviously into the season :) We unfortunatley won't be going home today, which is okay, we want to take home a baby that won't have to be rushed back. As I mentioned yesterday, he's having a hard time keeping his temperature. What's happening is that when we strip him down so he can eat (the only way it will happen folks, trust me), he can't maintain his heat. He burns all of his calories that he's eating just trying to maintain his body temp. So, he's in the isolette. No worries, he's cozy, snoozing away all toasty. It's allowing him to not have to work so hard so that he can put on weight. He has dropped again, even though he's eating great. Two steps forward, one step back. Huge praise that he's eating though. He wakes up to eat and then chugs his bottle. Today at 9:15 he ate 40 cc! So, Christmas in the hospital for us, which truly is okay. Good thing we're very into the Reason for the Season campaign this year, it makes it easier to be grateful and remember the real reason we have Christmas. In all honesty, I've been here so long I don't even remember that Christmas is quickly approaching out in the real world! All in all Grayson is doing awesome. We all must remember, he's a teeny baby that's not supposed to be be out of the womb yet :) So, we have to recreate it for him so he can grow strong. We're not sure where exactly his billiruben levels are because they scanned his face this morning instead of poking him AGAIN. It wasn't too high on that and it measures a little higher since it's not exact. So, no lights, no IV, just a little time to discover life in a box.

Merry Christmas Andy, Heather and Grayson. Good to hear you are all in good spirits. Thinking about you during the holiday season and yes it does help to remember the real reason. You can celebrate Christmas anywhere, Jesus doesn't care:) Take care.
